The hockey game of a life time. I will never forget it. The Big Chill at the Big House. University of Michigan Wolverines versus Michigan State Spartans hockey game played at the Big House on December 11, 2010.

Me and 113,410 of my closest friends endured the cold to watch a great hockey game. And, with 113,411 enthusiastic fans, this game set the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at an outdoor hockey game.

The “Big Chill at the Big House” was a rematch of “The Cold War” hockey game played at the Michigan State Spartan Stadium on October 6th, 2001. At that time, the Wolverines and Spartans played to a 3-3 tie in front of 75,544 fans. This game set a world record for the largest attendance at an outdoor hockey game. The Big Chill, with 113,411 fans, obliterated the existing attendance record of 77,803 fans set at the 2010 IIHF World Championship hockey game in Germany.

The final result, a 5-0 win by the University of Michigan Wolverines over the Michigan State Spartans. John Merrill and Carl Hagelin both scored two goals, with David Wohlberg also getting a goal. Shawn Hunwick, the University of Michigan goalie got the shutout.
